Labels have no place in describing people. I am particularly concerned about labels being tossed around in the current political climate and how dangerous this can be. It corrodes the moral fabric of our society.

Labels can have specific roles and functions. They can provide information as needed to make decisions about purchases. On merchandise, they can be helpful signaling certain measures of quality, perceived or real. But labels have no place in describing people.

Not only is it a good thing, it is a necessary component of a civil society and democracy such as ours. After all, civility is the hallmark of citizens of faith. Citizens of faith care about how they treat each other.
