Our actions and inactions have consequences. These consequences affect our children now and in the future. To protect them now and in the future we must reject divisive actions, seeking to engage each other as citizens, helping and caring for each other, and recognizing our common humanity.

What Matters
What matters is all around. Even if I can define what I think matters (truth, trust, science, civility, diversity and faith), only by selfless acts and devotion to others can what matters become actions serving others and celebrating the miracle of life.
What is Patriotism?
Patriotism is between the ears – the thoughts and actions of people who care for and about others.
Illegitimate? No!
Labels have no place in describing people. I am particularly concerned about labels being tossed around in the current political climate and how dangerous this can be. It corrodes the moral fabric of our society.
The Decency of Political Correctness
Political correctness is ok and necessary in my view. It serves to adjust our moral compass on an episodic basis.
“When did Decency Become a Luxury?”
Decency is a necessity, a basic tool/skill, in a civil society that hopes to advance democratic ideals. Polite, moral, and honest behavior is predicated on treating others with respect, empathy, and kindness.
